Wildlife Viewing Tour 4 hours (PM)
The wild landscape of the Northwest Territories is home to stunning views, lakes, rivers and amazing Wildlife. It is one of the last remaining places you will see Woodland Bison or ‘Buffalo’ roaming free in the wild. Also, you can spot various wildlife such as foxes, black bear, wolverines, bald eagles, sand cranes, and other rare animals that may show up along the way…
Cameron Falls Hiking Tour 4 hours (PM)
Cameron Falls is a destination for both locals and visitors alike. Located in Hidden Lake Territorial Park, the hike is a moderately easy 30-minute walk to the spectacular view of Cameron Falls. The trail leads through the boreal forest and along the rocky terrain, across streams and in and out of small valleys. Our guides will take you along the hiking trail and over the rocky landscape until you reach Cameron Falls. The trailhead is located approximately 45 km up the Ingraham Trail. You will see other local lakes and potentially wildlife along the drive.
Winter season (Mid November ~ Mid April)
Dogsled Tour 4 hours trip, tour duration:10 minutes (PM)
You can meet the dogs and enjoy learning about one of the most important modes of transport in the north. These dogs are essential to life in arctic conditions and were relied on for centuries to stay alive. You will understand the community love and respect for animals in the Northwest Territories.
Snowshoe Experience 4 hours trip, tour duration:60 minutes (PM)
Take a guided walk on the back trails of Aurora Village on traditional snowshoes. Learn about the flora and fauna that people of this land have used for centuries. Our cultural snowshoe experience takes you on a journey into the woods at Aurora Village, you’ll learn about the local tradi-tions of the land and the wildlife and flora of the area. Keep your eyes open, and you’ll likely see paws or hoof prints in the snow. You’ll also be shown important survival skills about fire, how to find shelter, and life in the extreme cold. The guided walk itself is approximately 75 minutes and suitable to all fitness levels.
Nature viewing experience by Snowmobile 1 hour (AM/PM)
Have you ever wanted to feel the thrill of freedom as you embrace one of Northerners’ favourite seasons? Glide over a frozen lake and through forested trails? Carve your way through our backcountry wilderness, travelling on thickly forested trails. Stop along the way and take photos of the breathtaking scenery, and play on our pristine frozen lakes as you get to know the “wild” side of frontier country.
Ice Fishing Demonstration; tour duration:2.5 hours (PM)
Take you down to a nearby lake – one of the best in the area for Ice Fishing. In a heated van, we explore the ice fishing holes and your guide will demonstrate how we ice fish and how we catch fish in the north. After pulling in the lines, hopefully, you are successful in catching something worthy of a photo opportunity. We then take your catch back to the village and into a Teepee where the guide will show you how to prepare fish and you can learn the real art to fishing – filleting. We then cook the fish over the open fire and with some local bannock and a little soup you enjoy a light and fresh northern meal.
